Some shots from a wine tasting event at Passeig de Lluis Companys during the Mercé, in Barcelona. Here you can by a set of tickets which can then be exchanged for glasses of wine from many excellent local producers. However, given the quantities of wine being tasted (see above…) I think that it is more accurate to see the event as a kind of giant open-air wine bar… The photographs were all shot on HP5+ 35mm film, pushed two stops to ISO 1600 by processing in Kodak HC-110 1+31 (Dilution B) for 6:45 at […]
I finally figured out a workflow that allows me to scan and then process black-and-white images with reasonable efficiency using Capture One… The main challenge is that C1 fails to handle the 16 bit grayscale TIFF images that the scanner produces, necessitating a conversion to a 16 bit colour TIFF file before the imported images can be edited. The trick is to use ZIP compression, which leaves the file sizes virtually unchanged. As a result, my film processing workflow currently looks something like this:
Cable car, Switzerland. This is definitely a country for the lazy hiker… Leica M7 with Zeiss ZM 2/35 using a red filter and Ilford Delta 100 processed in HC110 dilution H.
Mountain stream in Switzerland. Ilford Delta 100 processed in HC110 dilution H.
The swiss alps, between Silvaplana and St Moritz. In winter this are would usually be full of skiers, but in summer the ski-lifts provide a quick (if expensive) start to a hike in the mountains. Although the mountains are rather barren, if you time the trip well there are usually many photogenic flowers to explore – and maybe the odd naked hiker, if that thing is still allowed near St Moritz. Leica M7 with Zeiss ZM 2/35 and Ilford Delta 100 , processed in HC110 Dilution H (1+63 from concentrate) for 7:30 […]
If you are reading this, we are still not back online…
Banners on apartments, protesting against the all-night noise from tourists in Barceloneta. It is a problem pretty much everywhere now in Barcelona, making it very difficult to live in the city. And quite literally, the blog is going to sleep for a while as we recover from the heat and tourists…
Another motion-blurred image, taken in the rain. Even the priests are rushing around with mobile phones these days.
Illegal street sellers, moving in response to the arrival of some security guards. Rambla del Mar, Port Vell, Barcelona.
Fishing along the sea break near Port Olimpic, Barcelona.
A rather sparse sea-front, looking towards La Barceloneta.
