Vilanova to Sitges

A set of images on a walk from Vilanova y Geltrú to Sitges in Catalunya. It is an interesting route because you are sandwiched between the coastal railway lines and the sea, and there are no barriers between either of these and you. It is unusual in this hyper-sanitised 21st century to discover that there is nothing to prevent you being run over by a high-speed train or to stop you falling off a cliff: this is not a path for those without common sense. Grand Canon - Aerial View

A short set of slightly abstract images taken from a flight over the Grand Canyon. The aim was to produce images similar to the reliefs seen in an old geography text book. Photographing through a moving airplane window was quite challenging. With a rather tight travel schedule, we chose a late-afternoon flight to try to get some shadow and contrast in the photographs, shooting with a fast shutter speed to compensate for the rather bumpy flight and using careful post processing in Lightroom to handle the atmospheric haze. Valsassina Panoramas

Valsassina Storm Clouds, Italy

  Three images of Valsassina, looking up towards the head of the valley from the side of Monte Giumello, Italy. These are stitched panoramas using a 50mm lens with a polariser. By careful rotation of the polariser it is possible to bring out a lot of detail in the storm clouds, and also significantly change the apparent colour of the sky. Sadly, this did not allow us to change the weather…
