Winter’s Beach

A short set of images taken walking along the beach inn Barcelona with some stormy weather.

This is a very very late user review of the Leica M10, based on just over a year of use. It is a deliberately image-heavy post, with a varied selection of photographs that I hope show some of the capabilities of the camera.
Three landscape images, taken in the Picos de Europa. These were shot in rather dull (and damp!) weather, so this was largely an experiment in using local edits for contrast and exposure in Capture One to give the images more punch.
A short collection of images from Perpignan. These are very random and very unevenly edited, and show a very partial view of the town. These were originally intended to form part of a set of images around the theme of the recent French presidential election, as Perpignan is very much a microcosm for the issues central to the election. Unfortunately, conflicts on time meant that it was not possible to complete the necessary sequence, and the images here do not attempt to show the tension between the French middle classes, […]
Barcelona, the Collserola and power lines. Another Olympus macro scanning test, with Delta 100 shot via the M7 and 21mm Super Elmar and a stack of contrast filters.
Barcelona, as seen from the Collserola. The image was shot on Ilford Delta 100 using the Leica M7 and 21mm Super Elmar, and processed in ID-11 1+1. Both lens and film are extremely good, and the limitation on image quality in the digital images comes mainly from scanning rather than the original negative…
Plaça dels Angels, Barcelona. Shot with the M7 and 21mm SEM with a deep orange filter on Ilford Delta 100.
The sixth and final in a set of semi-abstract images of the Museu d’ Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA). Leica M7 with 21mm SEM and a 091 dark red filter, shot on Delta 100 and processed in ID-11 1+1.

Fourth in a set of semi-abstract images of the Museu d’ Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA). Leica M7 with 21mm SEM and a 091 dark red filter, shot on Delta 100 and processed in ID-11 1+1.
The third of a set of semi-abstract images of the Museu d’ Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA). Leica M7 with 21mm SEM and a 091 dark red filter, shot on Delta 100 and processed in ID-11 1+1.
Second of a set of semi-abstract images of the Museu d’ Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA). Leica M7 with 21mm SEM and a 091 dark red filter, shot on Delta 100 and processed in ID-11 1+1.
The first of a set of semi-abstract images of the Museu d’ Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA). The museum opened in 1995 and exhibits a wide range of modern artworks. The MACBA is also infamous for being rather more successful as a skateboarding destination – something which sits awkwardly with local residents and is somewhat at odds with the serene modernist architecture originally envisaged by the architect and which invites comparison with the Getty Centre in Los Angeles. But perhaps the architectural connection connection with skateboarding was there from the beginning… Leica M7 […]
The Pi d’en Xandri, on the edge of the Collserola. The pine tree is more than 240 years old, and has become an important symbol associated with the nearby town of Sant Cugat del Vallès. Leica M7 with 21mm SEM fitted with a dark red filter and shot on Ilford Delta 100.
Part of the cloisters in the monastery at Sant Cugat del Vallès. Leica M7 with 21mm SEM fitted with a dark red filter and shot on Ilford Delta 100.
After marching against the tourists, now we are playing at being tourists ourselves. This is a shot of the monastery (now mostly a museum) in Sant Cugat del Vallès, some 20km outside of Barcelona. Leica M7 with 21mm SEM fitted with a dark red filter and shot on Ilford Delta 100.
