Barcelona, the Collserola and power lines. Another Olympus macro scanning test, with Delta 100 shot via the M7 and 21mm Super Elmar and a stack of contrast filters.
Barcelona, as seen from the Collserola. The image was shot on Ilford Delta 100 using the Leica M7 and 21mm Super Elmar, and processed in ID-11 1+1. Both lens and film are extremely good, and the limitation on image quality in the digital images comes mainly from scanning rather than the original negative…
The aerial tramway, seen from the Monjuïc, Barcelona. Leica M7 with 50mm on Ilford Delta 100 rated at ISO 400 (by accident!).
A short gallery of images from a walk through Barceloneta, Barcelona. All images shot with the M typ 262 (now under repair) and ZM 1,5/50 C-Sonnar.
A seemingly abandoned camp site, on the side of the Monjuïc, Barcelona. Ilford Delta 400 in ID-11 1+1.
The industrial port seen from the edge of the Monjuïc, Barcelona. Ilford Delta 400 in ID-11.
Ilford Delta 400, in DD-X 1+1.
Two short galleries of very different architectural images, taken on a short walk around the area of the Encants market at Glories, Barcelona. The area is undergoing a construction boom at present, with large modern developments for housing of all types, offices, hotels and additional space for schools and universities. Much of this architecture makes a complete break with Barcelona’s historical building styles, adopting a very modern glass-and-steel approach.
The industrial port, viewed from the World Trade Centre, Barcelona.. Ilford Delta 100, accidentally exposed at EI 400…
The Torre San Sebastián in Barceloneta, as seen from the World Trade Centre buildings. Ilford Delta 100, accidentally exposed at EI 400.
The Torre de Jaume I (central station) on the Telefèric del Port connecting the Montjuïc and Barceloneta. Ilford Delta 100, accidentally exposed at EI 400. I miss using a camera with a holder for the film-box stub!
A gallery of images of the illegal street market at the Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, Barcelona. The market sells a mix of collected rubbish and most likely stolen items, and at its peak can have as many as 30 to 50 traders present. It forms part of a criminal system that spans from minor crimes such as petty theft through to more serious concerns such as drug dealing, prostitution and criminal theft, damage and usurpación that has badly affected local residents such as ourselves. The traders here represent very much the bottom of this […]
Another illegal alien, this time painted on a wall in the Ciutat Vella, Barcelona. Ilford Delta 400 pushed to EI 1600 in ID-11 1+1. The push processing works extremely well with this kind of image (even if shooting static subjects at ISO 1600 in daylight makes little sense other than for test purposes…), as the grain works naturally with the texture of the brick wall. The subject also helps here, as the dynamic range of this scene is much less than many of the previous test images.
Manteros at the beach in Barceloneta, having been displaced by the police from around the luxury marina (we can not have all those poor tax-evading billionaires being upset by the sight of illegal aliens selling illegal goods now, can we). Another 35mm test shot using Delta 400 pushed to EI 1600 in ID-11 1+1. Again, a difficult back-lit exposure where the there is little shadow detail remaining on the negatives.
People rowing at Port Vell, Barcelona. Leica M7 with 50mm on Delta 400 at EI 1600 and processed in ID-11 at dilution 1+1. This was the best of three shots taken in rapid succession to bracket for exposure. The grain works quite nicely with the textured background here.
A short set of images from the Encants market at Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes, Barcelona. Somewhat ironically, the “square of the Catalan glories” was originally redeveloped as a multi-level motorway junction, as can be seen under construction on this wonderful poster for a recent exhibition. Today, the area is being extensively modernised, and the roads being replaced by parkland and new constructions such as the Diseny Hub and the new I dels Encants. The market is in an amazing building with mirrored ceilings (there must be a joke there, but I […]
