This week, a set of architectural images taken in or around High Rise Piazza Gae Aulenti, Milan (next to the railway station at Porta Garibaldi). All the pictures were taken with the Ricoh GR II. There was a lot of guesswork with these photographs, thanks to the very very bright sunlight and a non-very anti-glare screen protector.

The area is an interesting example of trying to undertake practical urban regeneration, with a good mix of living spaces, offices, shops, supermarkets and arts and social venues all within a very short walk. Sadly, much of the housing is impractically priced and it will be interesting to see how the area develops in an era where property is treated more as an asset than as a place where to live.

The images were all processed in Capture One Pro 9.1. It is early days yet, but the update appears to have finally resolved the most frustrating bugs – the display update speed and accuracy (no more occasional pixelated nonsense) is now much improved making the software finally usable. Most of these images use the colour editing tool to simulate an orange filter for the black and white conversion.
