Week 3 :: Modern Times
This week’s five images come from around Barcelona, and mix modern motorways, old streets, human castles, drummers and explosions. One thing about Barcelona is that there is always something interesting to photograph…
The fireworks come from the Correfoc (“Fire Run”) that marks the end of the district festival in Sant Antoni. People dress up as fire devils and run through the streets launching fireworks, led by a giant firework-breathing pig with devil eyes and paced by the ever present sounds of drums. It is a bit like being in a live-action introduction from the original series of Thunderbirds and there is an equal mix of fascination and terror from the onlookers. Madrid should pay attention if it ever thinks to roll in the tanks in response to the still progressing unilateral moves for independence here.
After the break is a short gallery with a few more shots from the correfoc, all taken with the Ricoh GR.
Unfortunately I have not been able to take any film photographs so far this year, due to the ongoing legal problems which are draining far too much time and which also mean again that the majority of images taken in the last week can still not be published. Hopefully this will improve in a few weeks time.

What a nice set of images from an exciting city I would so love to visit. Your street scene of people walking into that sunny street or alley is very special and well done. Thank you for posting!
