La Boqueria, Barcelona. I do not usually like to post photographs from behind people, but in this case I quite liked the correspondence between the different shapes in the image.
Winter Garden
A short set of images taken at the Jardí Botànic Històric on the Monjuïc, Barcelona. This particular garden was originally established in the 1930’s by recycling constructions from the 1929 World Fair, before the what is later creation of what is now the main botanic garden in 1999. The garden is quite small and shady (never a bad thing given the summer environment here), and is notable for its collection of medicinal plants.

The first of three images where people realised they were being shot (photographically). The M7 is a good street camera, but dressing up in a day-glow yellow t-shirt probably undoes any subtlety that the camera has.
Barcelona Light and Shadow
Four very loosely connected images on the theme of light and shadow in Barcelona. This is one of the best times of the year for early morning light, as you can catch the streets before the tourists escape from their hotels.

More yachts and illegal street traders. Moll d’ Espanya, Barcelona. All three images this week were shot late at night on HP5+ rated at ISO 3200. It is very difficult to get clean images, as the film has little exposure latitude when pushed this far and these night scenes contain a lot of contrast.

Barcelona Colour
Four random colour scenes of everyday life in Barcelona. Colour shots taken in the market are really painful to edit, as the extremely mixed lighting makes getting anything vaguely approaching acceptable colour painful. I would love to find a practical, efficient strategy to adjust colour for indoor “street” shots that is more effective than the Monte-Carlo method that I currently use…
